Flight Simulator X has simulated all of the surface of planet Earth, including all of the continents, all of the oceans, most of the islands, the main rivers, the main forests, the main deserts, the main grasslands, the main mountains, the main cities, the main roads, the main railway lines, most of the airports and airfields, many of the shipping lines, etc. It is an incredible achievement, that can even be added to with add-on packages.

Some of the famous places around the world have been modelled and set in accurate positions. Another famous place that has been included, and is absolutely enormous, is the Grand Canyon in the USA.

This famous Australian landmark has been modelled and placed correctly, on a flat harsh landscape dotted with small trees and salt bushes.

The simulator is capable of creating different types of realistic complex clouds that you can fly through.

Four elephants can be seen walking among interesting African huts. In the simulation, I have come across elephants, giraffes, humpback whales, and a variety of different type of birds. There may be more animals in the simulation somewhere, but you never know when you may come across them.

At 40,000 ft, the cloud cover can be substantial. The simulator can do a very good job of indicating the altitude of an aircraft.

At some altitudes, thin lines of vapour are formed from the wingtips. At some altitudes, vapour trails are formed from the exhausts of the jet engines.
