This was painted outside, completely on-site. I wanted to use just black and white paints to create a monochrome study of the tones seen in front of me.

This painting required several sessions to complete. The sessions were all done at the same time of the day but on different days when the weather conditions were similar. I really liked the challenge of recording scenes that were outside, in clear sunlight. I realised in later years that I had chosen a good place to come to, in Adelaide, as its weather was regularly sunny and clear.
