28 cm (w) x 19 cm (h), pastels on acid-free paper. Date produced: December 2008
Produced entirely on-site, at Victoria Park, just east of the City of Adelaide. These trees are from a line of similar trees that are along Fullarton Road, just outside the parks main entrance. During December, the trees produce magnificent spreads of pinky red flowers, and because of this, they are commonly referred to as Christmas trees. It is a spectacular sight (to see a line of trees like these all out in flower) and I wanted to try to record the colours experienced during the time when these trees are in flower, in the full sunshine, with blue sky and dry yellow grasses. I needed to work on this colour study over several days of similar weather conditions.
Unfortunately, the reproduction here doesnt show the nuances of colour from the original pastel, but hopefully it gives enough idea of the study that was captured.
